SHINJI : Listening with the heart

Japanese Deaf Theatre Company is produced by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, who promotes sign language in Japan and is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

She teamed up with Deaf people to take on the challenge of Kyogen, a traditional art form in which Japanese people take pride above all else. After fifty years of challenging Kyogen, which requires rigorous training, Sign Language Kyogen was born. What is the sign language Kyogen that they have been challenging for so long?

This documentary examines the value of the sign language Kyogen through a performance in France.
