The Fifth Wall

Book signing with Mira Zuckerman

Mira Zuckermann's memoir will be released internationally at the 2026 Clin d'Oeil festival. In the book, Mira takes us on her journey from struggling actor to artistic director of an internationally recognized sign language theatre. Mira tells the story of her childhood, her dreams of becoming an actor, her fight for a dedicated sign language theatre, the building of Teater Manu, and the first 20 years of Teater Manu's history. This is the story of Norway's professional sign language theatre, and what it took to build it.

Short quote from the book:
"I have come into existence through sign language. I have lived and still live by sign language."

Long quote from the book:
"I want to tell you of the times when life looked dark, when there was no clear path forward, and how the wheel of my life found new traction, putting me on a new path filled with new glimpses of light. In the deepest dark of the universe, there are stars, glimmers of light. When we arrive at them, they open up like beautiful flowers, like new worlds, new life, new understandings of that which is fundamentally good and important to us all. Those glimpses of light that have opened themselves up to me, have all been filled with sign language. At Teater Manu, I have wanted to turn those glimpses of light into bonfires roaring in humanity’s cold winter nights. Those glimpses of light are all filled with sign language."

Duration : 40 min

Friday :
Group A : 16:00 - 16:40
Group B : 12:00 - 12:40
